100 Quilts for Kids Blog Hop and Charity Sewing Day Reminder

Happy Wednesday, everyone! Today we're visiting a DC Modern alumna on our blog hop. Katie from Swim Bike Quilt is sharing this sweet quilt that she is donating as part of 100 Quilts for Kids.

Katie's 100 Quilts for Kids quilt, Swim Bike Quilt
Many of you know this, but for those that don't, Katie started the 100 Quilts for Kids quilt drive several years ago when she was a member of DC Modern, so we owe a lot to her in terms of starting this wonderful tradition in our guild. Please take a minute to stop by Katie's post and to visit our previous participants here:

8/13 - Meli
8/20 - Alyson
8/27 - Carla

9/3 - Susan
9/10 - Katie

Also, a reminder that our annual charity sewing day to coincide with 100 Quilts for Kids is this Saturday, the 13th, from 10:30 to 4:30 at the Burke Branch of the Alexandria Library. The meeting room is on the second level (there is an elevator) and to the right once you walk through the main door. This is a new location for us, but similar to our other library venues, please bring an extension cord, and please sign up below if you can bring one of the following: iron and board, cutting mat and ruler, and snacks. We'd like several of each so we can keep people busy throughout the day! The first priority will be for our group quilts, so if you are able, please check in with Jane, Lynne, or Heather when you get there to see if there is anything you can do to help out, and if you took fabric for any of the quilts, please plan to come with the blocks completed. Please also feel free to bring your own charity projects, and of course feel free to bring a friend! The charity sewing day is open to all.

IMPORTANT: Unfortunately, unlike our other library meeting places, there does not seem to be a lot in walking distance for lunch options. So you may want to plan to bring a lunch or hop in the car and drive a few miles down the road.

Please let me know (dcmqgtreasurer@gmail.com) if you have any questions, and look forward to seeing you on Saturday.
